Generally no.  It is a purified form of the protein and is injected in very small amounts into the muscle which causes the wrinkle.

How does botox work?

It is injected into a muscle to temporarily paralyze the muscle to prevent movement and assist wrinkle reduction. It is the repeated movement of muscles that causes wrinkles so by preventing movement it helps reduce or soften wrinkles.

What can I expect during procedure?

You will have your skin cleaned with alcohol prep pad; your face will be marked with temporary skin pen; the provider will draw up the correct amount of product per area; and then each injection point will be injected.  The injections only take a few minutes.

Does it hurt?

You can request a mild numbing cream, but there is generally minimal discomfort and most people do not require topical anesthesia.

Is there any pre-treatment Required?

You should refrain from aspirin, ibuprofen, retinol products, vitamin E about 1 week prior to procedure.  This will help decrease risk of bruising.

Are there any Post-treatment recommendations?

We recommend that you do not have any facials, waxing, or exercise following treatment that day.  Remain upright for 4 hours after treatment!
