Microblading by BROW NIRVANA

What Is Microblading?

Microblading is a very natural looking semi permanent eyebrow tattoo that enhances or reshapes your eyebrows. It can give you a beautiful fresh look without the use of makeup if your eyebrows have thinned out, lack a shape, are disproportionate or have been over plucked and not growing back. Look and feel beautiful without a tedious morning makeup routine and maintain that polished look throughout the day whether you are at work, the gym, yoga or snuggled at home. You'll wish you'd done it sooner!

What Is The Process?

The natural contour of your face is used to draw a shape that will frame and accentuate your facial features. Pigments are then customized to best match your skin tone and hair color to mimic the look of your natural eyebrows. Once shape & pigment are decided any stray hair will be removed and numbing cream will be applied to the brow area before microblading begins. A handheld tool, made of tiny needles, is used to carefully scratch the epidermis layer of skin while depositing pigment to create very fine individual hair strands that will blend in with existing eyebrow hair. A topical anesthetic is used throughout the procedure to numb the area for comfort. Pain thresholds vary from person to person and every effort is made to ensure you are comfortable.

How Long Does It Last?

Microblading can last 1-3 years depending on skin type.  For best results 2 appointments are required. The first appointment is about structure and design. The groundwork is laid at the initial appointment and at the touch up 6-8 weeks later we can adjust color and/or build on existing hair strokes for added volume and symmetry as needed.  Pigment is manually implanted into the upper layer of skin making it a semi permanent procedure that will fade over time as the skin naturally exfoliates and regenerates.  Touch ups will be required to maintain the look.

How Do I Prepare?

  • Avoid alcohol & caffeine prior to your appointment to minimize bleeding and swelling
  • Do not take ibuprofen, aspirin, niacin, vitamin E or fish oil supplements within 48hrs of procedure unless medically necessary. They thin the blood and you will have more bleeding.
  • Do not work out on the day of your appointment as it will expand pores and could affect the result.
  • If you tint your eyebrows, it should be done no sooner than 4 days prior to your appointment.
  • Threading, waxing or tweezing should be done no sooner than 5 days prior to your appointment.
  • Tanning should be avoided before & after to prevent premature fading. Sunblock is recommended once healed.
  • If you use Botox, it should be done either 2 weeks before or after the appointment.
  • Dress comfortably and be prepared to lie still for a long period of time.

What Should I Expect After?

  • You may not soak the area, apply any kind of skin care products or makeup to the brow area for 7-10 days while the skin heals.
  • Please plan accordingly as your eyebrows will go through several phases as they heal and it will be a roller coaster of emotions.
  • It is recommended not to book your appointment close to any important social events while you heal as the brows will have a bold look as the skin heals and scabs form within the first few days.
  • Day 5-7 let the scabs naturally flake off - do not pick, peel or scratch!
  • While the skin is flaking the area will appear patchy and look as though the strokes are disappearing.
  • Day 8-10 a new layer of skin is covering the hair strokes making them appear light or blurry.
  • Day 14-28 the color and definition will gradually reappear as the skin exfoliates and regenerates. Any patchy areas that didn’t take the pigment will be evened out at the touch up.
No guarantee can be made that pigment will take to the skin.
  • Skin type, skin care, lifestyle, medical conditions/medications, and excessive bleeding during the procedure are some factors that could affect retention. Please note that if you’ve had previous tattoo work or laser removal in the treated area it may be difficult to retain pigment due to hidden scar tissue and additional treatments may be necessary.

About the artist

Sharon Chase is the owner and sole microblading artist at Brow Nirvana.  Her passion to become  a microblading artist was sparked by the good feels she herself experienced when her eyebrows were penciled in. There’s something to be said about the way you approach the day when you feel good about yourself! Growing up in the 90’s she fell victim to the over plucked pencil-thin eyebrow craze, but unlike the fanny pack the comeback of her over plucked eyebrows was not so strong. She’s always had a creative bug in her and a desire to help people so the idea of combining art with a feel good service couldn’t be a better fit!
